How we optimized goods logistics in Ulmart
Have you been robbed? 99% of the companies operating in the Russian Federation will answer "yes". More than that — 99.9% will say "You betcha!" Others are fooling themselves.
It’s counterproductive to brag about mentality and other nonsense; on contrary, we should fight against it. The practice of implementing our product shows that we know how to do it.
Ulmart warehouses carrying goods for millions of dollars show average re-grading of goods within RUB 1,000 during regular inventories. Think about it.
Such a productive result for our out-of-the-way country was obtained due to total transparent control of operations. Warehouse personnel have Wi-Fi PC and each of them reads current tasks directly from the information system.
The PCs are used to receive the goods, to read the bar codes; the information about actually received inventory and the amounts is sent to the supplier automatically, there is no need to run around. Then the accepted goods are distributed by sections and there they are scanned once again and are placed in accordance with the procedures.
Our opinion suggests and our practical experience shows that the address storage is redundant in all cases, with the exception of the companies whose inventory may be modified absolutely unexpectedly and in any quantities: such as outsourcing logistics operators. In the rest of the cases the thoughtful organizing of the warehouse helps achieving high performance without additional organizing and system maintenance expenses. The control is done on each micro-logistic operation:

- "what to take" is displayed on the screen: scan the required goods.
The PC training lasts no longer than 5 minutes, and voilá.
In other words, after the proper logistics have been implemented, the warehouse personnel will reduce in number and will start working quicker and the cost of labor force will become less expensive.
To enhance the process even further without affecting the security, Ulmart uses the flow receipt algorithm. This will help to make the goods available for sale in smaller batches, before the truck has been completely unloaded.
The first batch of goods will be ready for sale in 10 minutes after the beginning of unloading. Even half of the goods indicated in the supplier’s bill of consignments have not yet been accepted, the car is still being unloaded, but the first palettes have already been sold. This is the lean trading.

Let’s cover the sales process, which also became an object of optimization.
The cashier scans the bar code of the payment order, and the computer displays financial results that are being afterwards communicated to the client. No manual input, everything is automated: scanning-money-change-enter. The tasks for the corresponding collection sections are generated immediately ordering to collect such and such goods in such and such quantity.
While the warehouse prepares the order, the client at the checkout watches the nice status-bar on the LCD panel, following the number of receipt received from the cashier.
All the goods making the order were located and moved to the checkout: 100% completion.
